Summary of the contracting process

The North Tyneside Council has recently completed the award of the "Good Neighbour Scheme," a procurement process in the health services category. This initiative aims to support older and vulnerable individuals within the North East region of the United Kingdom. The contract period for service provision began on 1 April 2018 and will run until 31 December 2018. The tender was finalised on 23 March 2018, and the total contract value is £37,900, awarded through a single tender procurement method.

This award presents significant opportunities for local businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that focus on health and social care services. Companies capable of providing engaging support and interventions for isolated and elderly individuals will find themselves well-positioned to compete in future contracts associated with this scheme. The positive impact reported by beneficiaries signifies a growing sector where innovative service providers can thrive and expand their community outreach.

Notice Title

Award of Good Neighbour Scheme

Notice Description

AWARD ONLY OF:- The provision of a The Good Neighbour Scheme. The Good Neighbours Scheme has proven to be popular and is producing positive outcomes for older and vulnerable people who are isolated and lonely. Between April and December 2017 the Scheme has carried out 865 support interventions for 259 beneficiaries. 76% of beneficiaries have received on-going or multiple support interventions. A high proportion of activity provided by volunteers is to promote informal social contact. Requests for help with minor practical tasks are sometimes used as a pretext for the resulting social contact which invariably takes place. 94% of Good Neighbours beneficiaries are aged 65 and over and 82% live alone. 98% of beneficiaries have a disability or long-term condition. Beneficiaries are asked to complete a questionnaire to rate how much impact they feel Good Neighbours has had on their lives, ranging from no impact at all to life-changing impact. 80% of beneficiaries who responded rated the project as having changed their lives.
