Notice Title

Net-Zero Innovation Facilities

Notice Description

The Satellite Applications Catapult's Net-Zero Innovation Facilities will be utilised to deliver innovative projects and as such will potentially change and grow depending on the scale and type of Net-Zero projects that are undertaken. There is therefore a need for the facilities to be modular and temporary in design. In addition to the buildings there are also two compounds required, the first being for cryogenic chemical storage and the other for securing equipment on test with view of the sky. Both these facilities will require appropriate security relevant to their use. The scope of the procurement: The scope of the procurement will include design consultation for the facility including layout, groundwork specification, supply and installation and commissioning of all aspects of the facility. This does not necessarily need to be one sub-contractor. The facilities will initially consist of the following buildings/compounds with detail of the scope below: - Cryogenic liquid gas storage compound with an expected area of 200sqm, this compound must access for lorry delivery, as well as safety and security fencing. - Outdoor System on Test area with visibility of the sky will need to be a minimum of 100sqm and require services and with Radio Frequency (RF) invisible fencing. - Workshop and Test Shelter/Garage this facility is expected to be 15m x 10m x 5m; the supporting foundations need to be able to support allow for vehicles/equipment on test of at least 60 tonnes. The facility needs to be of modular and temporary design as the facility needs to be reconfigurable. The facility will have vehicles and large engines running on test with access doors closed alongside staff. Therefore, large scale extraction, air conditioning, localised exhaust extraction and all necessary safety systems that can be monitored and controlled locally and remotely will be required. - Chemical development lab will need to be able to accommodate a reception area 4-6 workstations, shower, and toilet facilities. It will need to be of modular construction to enable reconfiguration and/or expansion depending on projects. The initial use will be for development involving liquid gases and all equipment and health and safety equipment will need to be supplied.
