Notice Description

Wakefield Council's Public Health Commissioning for Prevention Team is preparing to develop the service specification for the contract for a substance misuse service which will commence on 1 April 2020 ('Substance' refers to all illicit drugs, alcohol, new psychoactive substances (legal highs), image and performance enhancing drugs (IPED's) and prescribed and over the counter medications). As part of this preparation, commissioners are keen to engage with a number of potential providers in addition to the Councils incumbent service providers of substance misuse services in order to understand market capability which will assist commissioners to develop the service specification. Currently, the Council is proposing to commission an all-age recovery focussed substance misuse service. It is envisaged the service will encompass all aspects of substance misuse interventions ranging from prevention, early intervention and harm reduction; brief interventions; targeted and specialist interventions; structured psychosocial interventions; specialist prescribing; needle exchange; access to residential detoxification and rehabilitation; after care; recovery; and information, advice, guidance and support to any family member or extended family member regardless of their age whose experiencing substance misuse issues. The Council intends to meet with up to 6 potential service providers in addition to the Councils incumbent service providers of substance misuse services to discuss the development of the districts' future substance misuse provision. These meetings will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis to the 6 potential service providers who respond to this advertisement. Face-to-face meetings will be scheduled for 45 minutes per provider and will be held on 28 September 2018 and 01 October 2018. This engagement is aimed at organisations that have experience of delivering substance misuse services.
