Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education is planning a procurement process for the "Care Leaver Covenant for care leavers" project, which aims to support care leavers aged 16-25. The estimated budget for this initiative is £1,000,000, covering the period from 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2021. The procurement method will follow an open procedure and is currently at the planning stage. A telephone conference for interested bidders is scheduled for 10th January 2020, where organisations can discuss participation in the tender process.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), looking to engage in health and social work services. Potential bidders can contribute through a variety of offerings, including work-related opportunities like apprenticeships and mentoring, which align with the project's goals of supporting care leavers in their transition to independence. Engaging in this contract could enhance a company's profile while also making a positive social impact.

Notice Title

Care Leaver Covenant for care leavers.

Notice Description

The DfE will be inviting tenders for a delivery partner for the Care Leaver Covenant project. At its simplest the Care Leaver Covenant is a promise made by organisations in the business, public or voluntary sectors to support care leavers aged 16-25 who sign the Covenant. The promise needs to be backed up by a practical offer of support in the form of work related opportunities such as apprenticeships, mentoring (for instance help managing their money), free or discounted goods and services. The appointed delivery partner will have ambitious plans to build on the Covenant achievements to date and secure signatories baked by meaningful offers from major companies as well as local organisations on a national and local scale. Those offers will relate to one or more of the five outcomes in Keep on Caring that we want care leavers to achieve so that they make a more effective transition from care to independence and particularly the outcome related to education, employment and training. Additional information: Organisations interested in submitting a bid for this contract are invited to take part in a telephone conference on Friday 10 January 2020 from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. If you would like to participate in the call please email Michael Allured and Ashni Tyler and you will receive an invite.
