Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education is currently planning a tender titled "Prevent for SEND learners in Further Education," aimed at providing resources to support the Prevent duty for vulnerable learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in publicly-funded further education (FE) institutions. This procurement falls under the classification of social work and related services and will cater to entities in various locations, including the UK and overseas territories. The engagement period for interested parties concludes on 23 February 2018. The initial market engagement was published on 20 October 2017.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in educational resources, particularly those focused on tailored support for SEND learners. Companies that offer innovative solutions to address the safeguarding challenges faced by these learners, as well as those with experience in educational consultancy or resource development, would be well-suited to participate in this procurement process. Engaging with this opportunity can help businesses expand their reach within the education sector while contributing to vital compliance initiatives required by the Education Department.

Notice Title

Prevent for SEND learners in Further Education

Notice Description

See 'Attachments' for a full description. All publicly-funded FE providers must comply with the Prevent duty. The duty requires providers to have due regard to the need to prevent vulnerable people from being drawn into terrorism. The ways in which providers are expected to meet the duty is set out in statutory guidance for FE institutions. DfE is committed to supporting the FE sector in meeting its responsibilities under Prevent, including promoting British values. This includes those providers in the sector who focus on learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Existing Prevent resources may not be easily accessible to SEND learners in FE, particularly at Entry Level 3 and below. In addition, the safeguarding challenge posed by this group is distinct to other learners. DfE wish to commission resources in two stages to support the delivery of the Prevent duty to SEND learners in FE providers whose learning level is below Entry Level 3. Additional information: Please contact Anthony Rodgers by 3rd November 2017 to register your interest in bidding for this opportunity.
