Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the provision of primary care medical services for the Green Elms, Epping Close, and Frinton Road surgeries in North East Essex. The buying organisation, Attain, is overseeing this emergency caretaker contract, which is active for a duration of 12 months, commencing on 1 February 2020, following a mutual termination of the previous contract with only 28 days' notice. The tender was awarded on 16 December 2019, with a total contract value of £2,731,791, and is classified under the CPV code for medical practice and related services.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) in the healthcare sector looking to expand their services. With a focus on emergency medical provisions, businesses that are skilled in delivering primary care services may find this to be an ideal match. The ongoing support required for these surgeries suggests potential for further collaboration or future contracts as the commissioning body looks to establish long-term solutions following this caretaker arrangement.
