Notice Title

Sustainable Air Mobility and Airport Ecosystem of the Future - 2050 Expose - Artifact from the Future

Notice Description

Connected Places Catapult (CPC) is the UK's Catapult Centre focused on promoting innovation in mobility services and the built environment to enable new levels of physical, digital, and social connectedness. CPC operates at the intersection between public and private sectors and between local government and transport authorities. CPC convenes the disparate parts of the market to help innovators navigate the complexity of doing business, creating new commercial opportunities, and improving productivity, socio-economic and environmental benefits for places. CPC has a track record of enabling industry innovations, helping them unlock their full potential. As such, CPC is well-placed to play a role in the UK's decarbonisation agenda and is doing so through a range of activities including the ongoing collaboration with partners involved in the project. CPC are funding this Future Air Mobility Milestone work as part of our Sustainability Action Plan deliverable. This piece will complement the Sustainability R&D Action Plan that highlights near-term activities the industry can undertake to move towards a more sustainable future. This provocative thought piece builds on the Sustainable Airports Action Plan and takes an imaginary look back to 2022 from 2050. What has changed and how? CPC is looking for an expertise to produce this artifact from the future, an expose from 2050 on the topic of "Sustainable Air Mobility and Airport Ecosystems" as detailed below. CPC will act in a supporting role to monitor and steer the activity and be sufficiently involved to be able to ensure this piece sparks discussion and leads to new areas of research in subsequent years.
