Summary of the contracting process

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), part of the Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), is in the planning stage of a procurement process for a "Managed Disposal Service" to be delivered in the United Kingdom. This service aims to manage the disposal of residual assets from market surveillance activities, including waste types such as WEEE, vehicle parts, and many others. Notice Description

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), which are part of the department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), expect to fund a managed disposal service that will remove, account for, scrap and / or recycle any residual assets from our Market Surveillance activities, and provide destruction certificates as required. The types of waste covered will include, but is not limited to WEEE, vehicle parts, textiles, children's toys, chemicals, batteries, and timber. We are hosting a virtual market engagement event to give an overview of the requirement, answer any outstanding questions and provide an environment for potential bidders to network. BEIS anticipates that an awarded contract will be expected to run from May 2021 to March 2022 with the potential to extend to an additional year. Additional information: This notice is issued for the purposes of early market engagement. We expect to publish the Invitation to Tender (ITT) and T&Cs, in April 2021. If you wish to take part in the market engagement exercise or obtain further information on the project, please contact Tom Drew or Emma Marshall at the address stipulated in the "Contact Details" section. We are planning to host the market engagement event on the 22nd March 2021 at 2-3PM via Microsoft Teams.
