Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is conducting a tender titled "Procurement to support coordination of the supply chain for retrofit at the local level," aimed at enhancing the energy performance of non-fuel poor homes across various UK regions. Published on 3rd August 2018, the tender is currently in the active phase and will close on 10th September 2018. The contract period is set to begin on 1st October 2018 and may extend through to 1st October 2021. This procurement falls under the category of research and development services, and organisations can apply through an open procedure for a share of a funding pot, starting with up to £190,000 for the initial six months.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialised in energy efficiency improvements, local project coordination, and supply chain integration. Companies focused on addressing non-financial barriers, such as building trust and awareness among property owners, will be particularly well-suited to compete. With the potential for significant funding over a three-year period, this is an excellent chance for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the energy services sector to engage in a government initiative that seeks to drive sustainable practices at the community level.

Notice Title

Procurement to support coordination of the supply chain for retrofit at the local level

Notice Description

: As part of a wider programme of work to improve the energy performance of owner occupier properties, as set out in the Call for Evidence on 'Building a market for energy efficiency', BEIS is seeking to launch pilots to test approaches in five different geographic regions for increasing the rates of energy efficiency improvements in non-fuel poor homes by providing support for local supply chain integration and project coordination. The funding awarded by BEIS would be used over 6 months, with the option to extend this with for a further two years, to develop a sustainable model for driving retrofit in a local area. Contractors should seek to address the non-financial barriers to retrofit such as trust, hassle factor and lack of awareness. In the first 6 months, up to PS190,000 per organisation will be available. If the project is extended to subsequent years, up to PS367,500 could be available per year per organisation.
