Notice Description
Job Title: Communications Manager Rate of Pay: PS27.93ph Hours: 37 hours per week Location: Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE / Hybrid Start Date: ASAP Contract type: Agency Job Description and Personnel Specification are attached, which also provides more information above the role. Brief description: Sandwell Council has been on a rapid improvement trajectory in recent years, having exited Government intervention in March 2024, and we are now determined to tell a new story about Sandwell that will help us punch our weight at a regional and national level. A new Council Plan was agreed last year that sets out our ambition to become an excellent authority and the key priorities we have as a council to improve outcomes for our residents. Now the challenge is to set out a borough-wide vision for the future and establish governance with our partners so that we are aligned in our approaches and can hold each other to account for making the changes we all want to see. An essential element of this is developing a narrative - the Sandwell Story - that will set out where we are as a borough and our ambitions for the place. This is distinct to the council's narrative, and is tended to be jointly owned with public, private and voluntary sector partners to galvanise activity and be used as a consistent story about the borough that we can use to maximise the opportunities for Sandwell. The council commissioned an external organisation to lead on engagement with residents and stakeholders last year and has established a Steering Group made up of individuals from key organisations in the borough. The task now is to take the insight from this engagement to develop the narrative, key messages and branding that can be used for a multi-layered approach to reaching our different audiences. We're looking for someone who can work with comms colleagues at partner organisations to develop the narrative and branding and agree this with the Steering Group. They will also need to help us think through how we align this to the council's existing branding and the WM Growth Company's 'It Starts Here' campaign. Inside IR35. No DBS required. Please can the agencies send over a CV, 2x up to date references and a copy of Terms and Conditions. You will also need to include your agency on cost details to each submission.
