Notice Title

Prior Information Notice - NHS Health Checks

Notice Description

Prior Information Notice - NHS Health Check Background The NHS Health Check programme is a nationally mandated Public Health programme under the responsibility of Local Authority Public Health teams. The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and certain types of dementia. Adults between the ages of 40 and 74, who have not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions, can be invited (once every five years) to have a check to assess their risk and be offered support and advice to help them reduce or manage that risk. In Barnsley, the programme is currently delivered through primary care. BMBC aims to explore a range of options around delivery models to deliver both targeted and opportunistic health checks including a systematic call and recall element. Commissioners wish to invite interested Providers to meet with them on a 1 to 1 basis. If required, Commissioners may also hold further market engagement events to refine the model and approach. The purpose of this approach will be to: * Raise awareness amongst the provider market of the challenges faced by Commissioners. * Seek the high level market view of the agenda and challenges from a commercial perspective. * Give Providers the opportunity to start building the resources and the strategic relationships required to bid successfully for the services. * Engage with the Provider market at the pre-specification writing stage. * Help to determine the most appropriate course of action for the Commissioners. Timescales: BMBC intend to have a revised NHS Health Check service for a start date of 01/04/2018. Interested suppliers may contact AngieKirk@barnsley.gov.uk Meetings with interested Providers will be arranged as soon as possible and held prior to 7th April 2017. This notice is issued solely for the purposes of conducting soft market testing. The Council may be interested in meeting with Providers with experience of delivering the services. This notice does not constitute a call for competition to procure any services for the Council. The Council is not liable for any costs, fees or expenses incurred by any party participating in this market testing.
