Job Title: Healthy Weight Project Manager Rate of Pay: ?23.09 per hour (Inside IR35) Hours: 37 hours per week Location: Sandwell Council House, Oldbury, B69 3DE/Hybrid Start Date: ASAP Contract type: Temporary (Agency) 12 weeks with a view to extend Job Description and Personnel Specification are attached, which also provides more information above the role. Brief description: o Sandwell Council public health team, LGC award-winners for the national public health team of the year 2021, is seeking to recruit to the permanent role of Healthy Lives programme manager. o Sandwell is an exciting and challenging place to practice public health. Sandwell is an area of superdiversity (34% of residents are from black and minority ethnic communities) with a rich variety of cultures, faiths, and languages. o Sandwell is the 12th most deprived local authority in England and has poorer healthy life expectancy compared to neighbouring boroughs. o The post holder will develop strategies, action plans and commissioning of services for weight management throughout the life-course. This will include a Tier 2 Adult Weight Management Service, a Commercial Weight Management Service and an offer for children and families. Other roles will include providing local support to the National Childhood Measurement Programme (NCMP) and public health advice to NHS commissioners, when required. Sandwell public health team has a community-based approach to public health, with a strong commitment to reducing health inequalities in all our programmes. o The post holder will join a team who are enthusiastic, experienced, and committed to reducing health inequalities in Sandwell using a community-based approach to public health. * Inclusion health is an umbrella term used to describe people who are socially excluded, who typically experience multiple overlapping risk factors for poor health, such as poverty, violence and complex trauma. Essential criteria: The role will be for an experienced public health professional with a broad range of experience including a sound understanding of adult and child weight management services and health promotion methods and have experience of monitoring, evaluating and reviewing any commissioned services. Experience in taking decisions on the commissioning of complex services that will directly impact on the short- and long-term health and wellbeing of people in Sandwell. Substantial experience working in a complex environment and associated budget. Alongside this in-depth experience of commissioning public health services and evaluating programmes to demonstrate the impact of your work on the health outcomes of the local population.
