Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Central London CCG, representing the North West London Collaboration of CCGs, has initiated a tender for "Primary Care and Public Workforce Training." The procurement, classified under health and social work services, is targeting the design and delivery of training for non-specialist staff in primary care settings who interact with patients having mental health needs. This tender is currently in the Tender stage, with a deadline for submissions set for 12:00 noon on Friday, 3rd March 2017. The project is to be delivered across eight CCGs in London, with a total budget of £40,000, and services are expected to commence from 1st April 2017 through to 31st March 2018.

This training opportunity presents significant prospects for businesses specialising in healthcare education and mental health support, particularly those that provide training workshops or consultancy services focused on mental health awareness. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract, given the emphasis on engaging staff in recognising and responding to mental health needs within primary care environments.

Notice Title

Primary Care and Public Workforce Training

Notice Description

NHS Central London CCG, on behalf of the North West London Collaboration of CCGs is looking for a provider to design and deliver an effective front line staff training for the non-specialist workforce that may come into contact with people or carers with mental health needs. The CCGs need to ensure that their primary care workforce - GPs, practice nurses, health care assistants, and practice administrative staff are able to respond to the needs of their patients who have a mental health need as they access more of the help and support they need from their GP practice. To do this, the CCG are proposing that practice staff have access to training to identify and respond to mental health needs and to support the shift of care into primary care settings for people with both serious and long term and common mental health needs. This training should also ensure that staff have a good understanding of current services, and how these are accessed. The training course aims are to: - ensure greater awareness of how to support people with mental health needs - improve confidence among staff on recognition of mental health needs and starting conversations about mental health and wellbeing - provide a clear overview of services across NW London that can support people with mental health needs and any local safeguarding arrangements - increase staff ability to create timely access to support A series of one-day workshop sessions are to be delivered across each of the eight North West London CCGs to train 15-20 multi-agency staff per workshop and a total of 360-400 staff. The programme is expected to be delivered within the financial year 2017-18 and the available funding is PS40,000.
