Notice Description

Durham County Council require supported living accomodation for a 17 year old male SW. Age 17 Gender Male Current Placement Foster care Geographical location required Essex, Kent, East London Needs and presentation SW is a looked after child by Durham County Council however has many family ties to the Essex/ Kent area including his mother, brother, older sister and his Grandmother and Grandfather. SW is looked after under a S20 arrangement. SW has been in his foster placement for over 1.5 years, prior to this he had a few different foster carers. Needs: * SW has a diagnosis of ADHD. * SW has been frequently going missing from home and being away from his placement. He is more often away from his home than he staying at his home. * 2 knives have been found in the bedroom of SW. * There are worries SW is being groomed to be criminally exploited. * SW needs to be safe from any risks in the community that others may pose to him. * It is important that as frequently as possible it is identified where SW is, who he may be associating with and who's house he may be staying at. Also, any risks in relation to any of his associates. * SW is under investigation for a rape of a 13 year old that dates back to the summer of 2022, he has not yet been charged with this offence. * SW is also under investigation for other offences including: two ABH, harassment (this was of a female), strangulation and criminal damage. SW has also been NFA'd for an offence of GBH. * There has also been other incidents including fights SW may have been involved in outside of the offences that he has been arrested for. * There are worries around SW frequently coming home under the influence and has been a suggestion that he may be drinking when out in the community every evening. Presentation: * Prior to June 2023 there were no concerns around SW ever going missing or drinking alcohol, however he began to associate with new people around this time and there appears to have been an escalation in concerns in relation to him. * SW has previously spoken about hearing voices and feels this is now returning. * SW has also advised that he feels like 'killing himself.' * SW would previously engage very well with his carers Social Worker and his own Social Worker. He would present as polite Young Person. * SW would also engage in Looked After Review meetings and PEP meetings. * However, over the previous weeks/ months there appears to have been a change in behaviour. For example he has became more aggressive with police officers. What we require: * A supported living accommodation to support our young person. * Providers that have knowledge and experience of working with children with SW's needs * Providers that have a track record of achieving positive outcomes for children / young people and who provide consistent good quality support and who demonstrate stickability.
