Summary of the contracting process

The Home Office is conducting a tender titled "Stay Put Evacuation Research" to commission scientific evidence for developing operational guidance on evacuation strategies for blocks of flats. This tender falls under the construction industry and specifically relates to services for fire-brigade and rescue. Located in London, the procurement process is currently active, with an open procedure being adopted following an accelerated process due to an unsuccessful mini competition. The tender period ends on 6th October 2020, while the contract is expected to commence on 23rd October 2020 and last for one year.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in research, safety consultancy, or fire safety engineering. Given the focus on evacuation strategies, companies with expertise in architectural services and engineering design are particularly well-suited to compete. The financial scope of the contract, ranging from £150,000 to £200,000, attracts both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enhancing the potential for local firms to engage with government contracts and contribute to public safety improvements.
