Summary of the contracting process

The NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit is planning a procurement process titled "Somerset Satellite Renal Services" aimed at providing renal dialysis services at three satellite locations in Somerset, South West England. The intended contract is valued at approximately £3.5 million per annum, with a minimum term of three years commencing from 1 April 2019, potentially extendable up to a maximum of seven years. An initial engagement event was conducted on 15 December 2017, and a follow-up Market Engagement Event is scheduled for 2 March 2018, where stakeholders can discuss the service scope and procurement details. Interested parties should note that expressions of interest for attendance at this event do not guarantee involvement in the subsequent tender process, and all relevant deadlines can be found in the attached documentation.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those focused on renal care and dialysis. Providers with the capacity to operate within the light touch regime governing healthcare contracts are encouraged to consider competing for this contract. As the procurement process involves gathering insights from clinical and patient engagement, involvement in the upcoming engagement event can provide valuable information for shaping proposals. Businesses of varying sizes, particularly those with experience in delivering similar healthcare services, will find this a pertinent opportunity to expand and strengthen their market presence within the public procurement landscape.

This process is being carried out by NHS South, Central & West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioner. An initial Market Engagement Event was held 15/12/2017. The full service scope is currently being defined but as a minimum will include provision of renal dialysis at three satellite locations in the South West.
