Notice Description

Tenders are invited from suitably experienced organisations for Stray dog Kennelling and re-homing of any unclaimed dogs: Minimum Criteria - Location & Access The kennels must be within 10 miles from Dacorum Borough Council, The Forum, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead HP1 1DN. Any kennel locations that do not meet this criteria will result in the tender being rejected and not scored. Stray Dog Kennelling and re-homing of any unclaimed dogs service to include: o To keep all stray dogs seized by the council safe and secure for a statutory 8 day time period on behalf of the council. o On completion of the eighth day statutory detention period the Contractor must take on the responsibility of re-homing the dog. o The commitment and ability of the contractor to take on unwanted strays and attempt to find new homes for them is a particularly important part of this contract. This is part of our current practice and we would wish this process to continue. The Council will work closely with the Contractors kennels to reach a satisfactory outcome for the stray dogs' welfare. o Kennels must be open to Council Staff and members of the public who have found a stray dog 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. o In exceptional circumstances, e.g. if a dog has immediate need for its medication, the contractor will be required to return a dog out of hours and charge the owner the relevant fee for collection. o The contract will be for a period of 5 years with a commencement date of 1 April 2017. Interested organisations can download the tender documents from the Supply Hertfordshire e-tendering portal at www.supplyhertfordshire.uk suppliers must register on the portal (unless already registered) to be able to download the tender documents. Only tenders submitted electronically through the portal by the return date 12 noon 12 January 2017 will be accepted.
