This initiative falls under the educational software package category and involves the procurement of a solution that will facilitate various innovative assessment methods. The contract period spans from 1st February 2018 to 31st August 2018, following a tender period that ended on 3rd January 2018. Notice Title

Digital Exam system pilot - award

Notice Description

The University has awarded a contract for the supply of a system to deliver a digital examination solution pilot. This pilot provides an opportunity to explore and evaluate both the technical and operational aspects of digital examinations delivered using system designed specifically to create, set, deliver, mark assessments and provide analytics about students and their performance. This includes being able to create and set examinations that offer greater flexibility in how students can respond to questions beyond simple objective testing and short text-based answers, and being able to provide legible responses that include working out to mathematical problems, chemical, scientific and electronical experiments, drawing and diagrammatic illustrations, mind-maps and flow charts. It also offers opportunities to explore flexibility and inclusivity in allowing students to use their own devices in examinations, and approaches to marking and providing effective and personal feedback to examination questions, and opportunities to use digital text-matching services to check for originality of student answers. We can further explore how digital examinations can support integrity of the assessment process through keeping assessment data secure and seen only by those that need to see it at all stages of the examination process and using randomisation to essentially provide a different assessment for each student while assessing the same learning outcomes.
