Summary of the contracting process

The Cumbria County Council is currently overseeing the "Cumbria County Council Foster Care Framework," a public procurement process aimed at providing essential foster care services for looked-after children. This project falls under the health and social work services category and is being conducted in the North West region of the United Kingdom. The procurement utilised an open procedure and entails a total contract value of £9,000,000. Although the tender period formally ended on January 9, 2017, the contract remains active and extends from May 1, 2017, through to April 30, 2019. Interested parties should consult the service specifications and information provided through the relevant documents available on The Chest platform for additional details regarding participation and compliance requirements.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses, particularly those operating as Independent Fostering Agencies (IFAs) with a relevant background in social care services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are particularly encouraged to participate, as there are no caps on the number of providers that can be part of the framework. These opportunities allow qualified providers to access future fostering contracts, thereby enhancing their service offerings and contributing positively to the welfare of children in care across Cumbria.
