Summary of the contracting process

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult has initiated a procurement process for the "Rain Erosion Test Rig," aimed at establishing an advanced test facility to study rain erosion on wind turbine rotor blades. This project is classified under research and development services, and the procurement is currently in the planning stage. A key milestone for this process is the engagement end date, set for 23rd February 2018. The test facility will be located in Blyth, Northumberland, and interested suppliers are invited to register for participation in a supplier day scheduled to discuss this opportunity further.

This tender presents significant growth potential for businesses specialised in engineering and manufacturing equipment for the renewable energy sector, especially those with expertise in designing and constructing testing facilities for renewable energy applications. Companies capable of delivering a fully operational rain erosion test rig within a six-month timeframe would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. The requirement not only aligns with the increasing focus on offshore wind technology but also opens avenues for collaboration with a leading player in the industry.
