Summary of the contracting process

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is currently conducting an open tender for the "Provision of Health Incentive Solution Pilot" as part of a £100m initiative aimed at improving public health and addressing obesity in England. This procurement process is at the tender stage, with submissions open until 9th August 2021, and the anticipated contract effective from 20th September 2021 through to 31st July 2022. The main focus is on research and development services, specifically relating to designing and executing a digital incentive scheme to encourage positive health behaviour changes among adults aged 18 and over across the UK.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in health-related solutions or digital technologies. Companies that can contribute to the development of effective behaviour change strategies or have expertise in user data analysis will find this contract highly relevant. Engaging in this pilot can bolster their portfolio and showcase their capabilities in the public health arena, potentially leading to further contracts as the government continues to focus on health initiatives following the pandemic.

Notice Title

DHSC - Provision of Health Incentive Solution Pilot

Notice Description

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) announced an ambitious PS100m package of measures to improve the health of the nation by empowering people to make healthier choices and to support those living with obesity to move towards and maintain a healthier weight. As part of this funding, and given the health policy context set out above, we are looking to develop and test an incentives-based approach to positive health behaviour change. Our ambition is that this would support healthier lives and Government's ambitious commitment to tackle obesity and obesity-related illnesses, reducing pressure on the NHS as we emerge from the pandemic and enabling us to 'build back' better as a more resilient, healthier, fairer society. We are looking to pilot a digital incentive scheme to evidence and help understand, in practice, what works and what does not in the adult population (18+) in England. We expect the supplier to gather user data on behaviour change as a core part of the pilot. Procurement documents can be accessed at: http://health.atamis.co.uk
