Notice Description

Gateshead Council is seeking to engage a suitable Contractor to provide the Council with its requirements for vehicle hire for Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) (up to 3.5t). The Council also requires a vehicle tracking system for the majority of these vehicles, as well as a small number of its own vehicles. This framework will cover the Council's long term and short-term requirements over the next 36 months with the option to extend for a further 2 x 12-month periods. We currently have 300+ vehicles on hire. All vehicles provided under this framework must: * be less than 5 years old for the duration of the Call-Off Contract, unless otherwise instructed by the Council * be supplied clean and tidy inside and out and be in good mechanical condition and fit for immediate use * conform to all current legal and statutory requirements for the duration of the Call-Off Contract * be fully VCA compliant as appropriate where conversion/modifications have been made * be speed limited to 56 miles per hour upon request * have a label near the fuel filling point indicating the type of fuel required. The Council require the supplier to locate a minimum of 3 vehicles at Park Road Depot for ad hoc hire by the Council. If the vehicles are not in use by the Council the Contractor can utilise them in their day-to-day business upon 24 hours' notice to the Council.
