Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the Great Ormond Street Hospital seeking proposals for the "Childrens Acute Transport Service (CATS) Patient Transport Services," situated in London, catering to the ambulance services industry. The tender is currently active, using an open procurement method, with a deadline for submissions set for 29 October 2020. This service, which is primarily aimed at transporting paediatric patients to notable critical care units, has a contract value of £5,000,000, with the services commencing from 1 December 2020 and running until 30 November 2026.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the healthcare and transport sectors, notably those specialising in ambulance services and paediatric patient transport. Competitors well-versed in handling emergency medical situations, particularly those with experience in collaboration with hospital systems, will be well-positioned to submit their bids. The scale of the contract and its long duration may attract larger firms, but there remains room for niche players that can offer innovative solutions or specialised services within the healthcare transport domain.
