EA Natural Capital Condition and Ecosystem Service Mapping Pilot
Notice Description
The Environment Agency (EA) are developing a specification to create pilot riverine natural capital condition and ecosystem service maps, with the longer-term aim of scaling these up nationally. User needs have been identified and the pilot maps will build on work previously undertaken in Phase 1 to review the inference of riverine natural capital condition from existing data, approaches to mapping asset condition, and the evidence base linking asset condition to provision of ecosystem services. It was found that in the absence of detailed riverine natural capital condition data at site scale condition indicators can be used to enhance our understanding of natural capital condition and ecosystem services and to create broadscale maps. This project (Phase 2) will develop and trial prototype riverine natural capital condition and ecosystem service mapping using the approaches, evidence and indicators identified in Phase 1. This package of work is funded by the Defra-wide Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) programme which aims to transform landscape decision-making in England by providing a rich picture of the state of our terrestrial and marine environments and how they are changing. The intention is to use an open competitive procurement process to appoint the provider. The competition will be run via the Atamis e-procurement system. Any interested providers will need to register on Atamis before the tender invite date by going to URL https://atamis-9529.my.site.com/s/Welcome and clicking on 'Register Here'. If you encounter any problems whilst registering, then please contact the Atamis support desk, Tel: 029 2279 0052 or email: support@atamis.co.uk The proposed procurement timetable is: Tender Invite 11 September Tender Return 2 October Contract Start Date 31 October
