Notice Title

Exploring the value of baseload capacity and developing modelling capability - Lot 1 and Lot 2

Notice Description

This Project is divided into two Lots; bidders may compete for either one, or both. Lot 1 requires high quality modelling analysis to provide answer the question 'what is the marginal value of additional baseload capacity, in a future where carbon budgets are delivered and greater energy system flexibility is achievable'? The successful Contractor will consider different future scenarios to reflect uncertainties and provide results that are useful in guiding policy decisions that may affect the future technological composition (or 'mix') of capacity and energy. Comparison of scenarios should shed light on the capacity and generation mix, such as limits of optimal ranges of baseload capacity in future as well as sensitivity of these answers to assumptions. Lot 2 helps to build Ofgem's in-house modelling capability, while shedding light on the question posed in Lot 1. Lot 2 helps to build Ofgem's in-house modelling capability, while shedding light on the question posed in Lot 1. Full details are set out in the ITT.
