Notice Description

NHS North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (NEECCG) will shortly be engaging with a third party organisation whom will be undertaking an independent review of Diabetes Management (DM) services across the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System (ICS). The outcomes of the review will inform the commercial options for the future of Diabetes services across the ICS, including North East Essex. The review is expected to be completed by April 2020 after which partners across the ICS will convene to deliberate its recommendations, commence action planning and explore commissioning options and opportunities; a process NECCG anticipate will take 2-3 months. To enable this process NEECCG will extend the current North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS) by 12 months to 31st March 2022. Recommendations from this review will inform the future commissioning of services and its potential geography. The overall aim of the current NEEDS is to co-ordinate, promote and ensure, via a single point of access, the provision of a comprehensive range of high quality, cost effective integrated health services for people with diabetes and their carers living in North East Essex. The current contract is due to expire on 31st March 2021. The additional contractual term is for a period of 12 months from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022. This will enable project team at NEECCG to be able to fully explore the options within the wider system and to understand if the service could be expanded into other areas. A voluntary ex ante transparency notice relating to this matter was published on 27.1.2020. Additional information: NHS North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (NEECCG) will shortly be engaging with a third party organisation whom will be undertaking an independent review of Diabetes Management (DM) services across the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System (ICS). The process of appraising the ICS-wide recommendations is expected to take approximately 2-3 months. Without the extension of the current service Commissioners will not be able to sufficiently deliberate the recommendations in the review and still undertake a comprehensive procurement process to commission a high quality Diabetes Service. across the ICS, including North East Essex.
