Summary of the contracting process

Sefton Council is overseeing a procurement process titled "Adoption in Merseyside (AiM) Adoption Support Services," classified under the "Social work and related services" industry. The contract relates to the provision of adoption support services in Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, and Wirral local authorities, aiming to assist a minimum of 180 individuals and facilitate around 1,230 letter exchanges per annum. This falls within the Light Touch Regime and follows an open procedure procurement method. This process was initiated on 26th April 2024 and has completed the award stage with Family Action as the supplier. The contract period spans from 1st August 2024 to 31st July 2025, with potential extensions, and the council's budget for the service is £170,000 per annum, potentially scaling up to £510,000 over three years.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for Registered Adoption Support Agencies or Voluntary Adoption Agencies compliant with the Adoption and Children Act 2002. Businesses that provide specialised social work services tailored to adoption support, including services to adopted adults, birth parents, and relatives of adopted individuals, would find this an advantageous contract. The broad regional coverage and substantial budget allocation make this an attractive opportunity for competent providers in the social services sector to secure a steady stream of contractual work and contribute positively to the community.
