Notice Title

2153/ITT/SC Dynamometer and Associated Equipment for Heavy-Duty Internal Combustion Engine Test Rig (500 kW)

Notice Description

Introduction: This is an Invitation to Tender (ITT) with information, instructions and guidance provided in this document. Tender submission (consisting of the completion of the Online Supplier Questionnaire, Technical Response, and Commercial response documents) should be completed and returned by all Tenderers via the UoN InTend platform ( https://in-tendhost.co.uk/universityofnottingham/aspx/Home ) who wish to bid for the contract. Please note, throughout the Tender documentation the University of Nottingham will be referred to as 'UoN'. Synopsis: The tender seeks the procurement of a dynamometer system capable of supporting a wide range of thermodynamic engine research activities undertaken by the Powertrain Research Centre at the University of Nottingham. This effort is part of a collaborative venture involving other departments and research groups across the UoN, aimed at the development of the Hybrid Propulsion Systems (HPS) facility located on the Jubilee Campus. The project's goal is to accelerate the disruptive propulsion solutions for heavy transport where full-electrification is not viable, leveraging hydrogen and its derivative as the primary energy vectors for hybridised propulsion systems. The system should include a dynamometer with a minimum braking power of 500kW with drives, a PID control system, a mechanical supporting system for both the dynamometer and the prime mover, and all necessary peripherals. Installation and commissioning at the Hybrid Propulsion Systems (HPS) at the University of Nottingham are required, with the integrated system expected to be fully operational by April 2025. Objectives: To secure value for money goods and services for the University; o Establish a contract which agrees quality, price, delivery timescales, installation schedule, and aftermarket services in accordance with the University's requirements. o To maximise recycling, reduce packaging, and reduce emissions related to deliveries in line with our sustainable procurement ambitions. o To enhance the environmental sustainability of the equipment infrastructure from strategic planning, construction, and usage to maintenance and decommissioning. o Eliminate risk of Modern-Day slavery within the supply chains. Estimated Value: Estimated value for design, manufacture, delivery, installation, commissioning, VAT, warranty, import, and duty, is between ?450,000- ?550,000.
