Summary of the contracting process

Public Health England (PHE) is currently undertaking a tender process for the conversion of an existing MS Access database to an SQL database, which is expected to improve data management and reporting capabilities. The project is classified under database services (CPV 72320000) with a budget of £60,000. Interested suppliers must submit their expressions of interest by 23rd February 2017, at which point PHE will consider up to 30 responses to progress to the formal tender phase. The contract is slated to begin on 31st March 2017 and conclude by 31st October 2017, with delivery addresses spanning the UK and beyond, including British Overseas Territories and Europe.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in database services, particularly those experienced in MS Access and SQL. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are suited to compete given the nature of the project, which requires expertise in database conversion, quality assurance, and user interface design. The successful contractor will not only upgrade PHE's data system but also contribute to the creation of a more robust platform for handling large datasets, enhancing reporting and data interrogation processes for public health analysis.
