Summary of the contracting process

Public Health England (PHE) has recently awarded a contract for £23,000 to Cell Guidance Systems for the scientific analysis of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) by G-banding. This tender falls under the category of research laboratory services and is located in the South West of England. The contract period commenced on 22nd May 2019 and is set to continue until 21st May 2021. The open procurement method was used for this contract, which had an initial tender period that concluded on 3rd May 2019.

This opportunity presents a significant avenue for growth for businesses specialised in cytogenetic services, particularly those with expertise in handling live cells classified under the Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) Hazard Group 2. Companies that have experience with human iPSCs and possess the necessary laboratory capabilities would be well-positioned to compete in future tenders of a similar nature. Engaging in this field could allow businesses to expand their service offerings within the scientific and medical research sectors.
