Notice Title

Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) in Acute Medicine and Collaboration to Align the Developing Older People's work: development of the primary medical wider workforce credential project - Phase 1

Notice Description

The NHS (in England) Multi-professional framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England described a high-level imperative for a new approach to development and assurance for Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs). The health and care system is rapidly evolving to deliver innovative models of care to meet the increasing demands of individuals, families and communities. Not only has the education and training of traditional professional and clinical groups changed rapidly in recent years to account for the changing requirements of employers, patients and the public, so too has the emergence of new specialisms, including the role of Advanced Clinical Practice. For the first time in England a framework has been produced which sets out an agreed definition for Advanced Clinical Practice for all health and care professionals and articulates what it means for individual practitioners to practise at a higher level from that achieved on initial registration. The framework requires capabilities relevant to the clinical specialism to be developed. For specialties working closely with medicine ie acute medicine and geriatric medicine this needs to be undertaken alongside the organisations which hold the medical curriculum and have the authority of their membership to support the development and implementation of the work. To further work under the flexibility agenda, HEE is looking to appoint an experienced delivery partner to work with the Medical Education Reform programme - and relevant professional and regulatory bodies - to support the flexibility agenda, namely by developing the curriculum and assessment for ACPs in Acute Medicine and supporting the alignment of the existing work with geriatric medicine. Tenders comprising all the documents requested MUST be submitted via the 'Supplying to the NHS' Portal, www.supplying2nhs.org no later than Friday,30th November at 14:00 hours using the My Response section within the Invitation to Tender
