Summary of the contracting process

The Department of Health and the NHS Business Services Authority are advancing the procurement process for a separate lot titled 'Home Delivery Services' as part of the Future Operating Model for NHS Logistics Procurement. This planning phase involves the delivery of continence products and potentially other goods to residential and care homes across the United Kingdom, where a quarter of a million users currently benefit from these services. A Market Engagement Day is scheduled for 27th March 2017 at Quarry House, Leeds, to gauge market interest for a proposed £40m contract over five years, which includes options for two one-year extensions. The deadline for registration to attend this event is 14th March 2017.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those in the logistics and transport sectors, as it aims to select a single provider for the Home Delivery Services contract. Companies that specialise in logistics services, especially those with experience in healthcare delivery and supply chain management, would be well-positioned to compete. Engaging in this procurement can support business growth by tapping into the NHS's substantial user base and expanding operational capabilities across various delivery addresses, including domestic and international realms.
