Exhibition and Interpretation Specialist for The Hold

Notice Description

Suffolk Record Office wishes to appoint a specialist to carry out a piece of work for up to PS25,000 (inclusive of travel and related costs) commencing April 2017 and finishing in November 2017 (estimated). The outputs of the work should include: 1. Designs for the dedicated exhibition space, which will host a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions (e.g. 3-4 per annum). The space needs to provide a flexible, future-proof, high quality and long-lasting infrastructure for a temporary exhibition programme. 2. Interpretative designs for the spaces throughout the rest of the building (e.g. circulation spaces, spaces within the search rooms, education room, cafe), which can allow the visitor to follow different interpretative themes or stories. These may incorporate the use of permanent or semi-permanent displays. 3. Designs/proposals for how the results of community-based heritage projects could be displayed at The Hold. 4. An interpretation framework, including costs and guidelines/templates, for programming future temporary and community exhibitions. This should be developed in close partnership with the Activity Plan Officer. Within the framework should be specific, detailed plans for the first 12 months' of exhibitions in The Hold after it opens, developed with input from the collections team and Design Team.
