Notice Title

Interim Weight Management Programmes Lot 1

Notice Description

Lot 1: Cooking classes and Physical Activity for Adults Background and context Newham is a demographically diverse borough with a high rates of overweight/obesity and disproportionally high numbers of residents experiencing long-term health problems associated with excess weight. This pattern is particularly evident among our poorest residents, those with physical/mental health problems and residents from ethnically minoritised groups. The council already commissions Xyla Health & Wellbeing to provide a structured 12-week Tier-2 Weight Management service for Newham residents aged 18 years and above. However, this kind of programme is not suitable for everyone. The Council is therefore looking to work with partner organisations from Newham or neighbouring boroughs to develop and test ways to help more residents lose weight. Specifically, we want to hear from organisations with experience in this area that are able to provide fun and healthy cooking classes for adults (aged 18 years and over) on a budget that want to learn new skills and lose weight, with a particular focus on single men and women with a history of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). Funding for this work applies to the period between 16 December 2021 and 30 June 2022. Budget and payment schedule Maximum available budget up to 30 June 2022 is PS70,000. Payment schedule is: 1. PS35,000: Within 30 days of contract start date 2. PS31,500: Within 30 days of contract end date (30 June 2022) Five per cent (5%) of the contract value (PS3,500) is retained from the final payment and will be paid subject to successful delivery against the objectives listed above. Contract extension or variation Newham Council may choose to extend the contract for up to seven (7) additional months. The value of the extension will be based on the agreed unit price (per completer) quoted as part of the tender submission and agreed within the terms of the original contract.
