Summary of the contracting process

The Metropolitan Police Service is currently in the tender stage of a procurement process for the supply of boarding and kennelling services for seized dogs. Set to begin on 1 April 2025, this service will run for an initial term of 48 months until 31 March 2029. The procurement, which falls under the "Dog kennel services" industry category, is structured into three distinct lots: Retained Kennels, Framework Kennels, and Welfare Kennels. The total estimated contract value is £16.2 million. Interested suppliers must submit responses by 30 October 2024 through the designated Procurement Portal. This opportunity involves a competitive procedure with negotiation, specifically suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The services will be delivered across the United Kingdom.

This tender represents a significant business opportunity, especially for SMEs in the kennel services industry, providing a chance to secure a long-term contract with a substantial financial value. Companies with capabilities in handling dogs of various temperaments and conditions, investing in facility upgrades, and adhering to legal welfare standards will find this opportunity particularly suited to their strengths. With multiple lots available and no restriction on the number of lots a supplier may bid for, businesses have greater flexibility to tailor their proposals to the specific requirements of each lot. This procurement can foster robust partnerships and drive business growth through assured government contracts.
