Summary of the contracting process

Reading Borough Council is conducting a tender for the "Working towards Independence accommodation" project, aimed at providing support and accommodation for single homeless individuals and couples without dependent children. The procurement falls within the social work and related services sector and is valued at £2,970,000. The tender period ended on 6 March 2018, and the contract is set to commence on 1 September 2018, lasting until 31 August 2027. This project requires the provision of at least 85 short-term support bed spaces to clients requiring varying levels of tenancy support, with most spaces to be operated through licensed agreements.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the social care and housing sectors to expand their services. Companies capable of providing accommodation alongside effective tenancy support, especially those with experience in supporting vulnerable populations or partnerships with local landlords, are particularly well-suited to compete. This initiative not only allows for collaboration with Reading Borough Council but also paves the way for ventures that enhance local community wellbeing and housing provision.
