Notice Description

To provide an appropriate adult under the PACE Code of Practice 1984 to support children and mentally vulnerable adults when they are told their rights and entitlements; when they are interviewed; and when they are charged with an offence. This is a statutory requirement for children, and good practice for vulnerable adults. Where a parent or guardian is not able to attend then the Local Authority is required to provide an appropriate adult (inspection of Youth Offending 2011).
