Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit, acting on behalf of the NHS Herts Valleys and NHS East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Groups, is currently engaged in a procurement process for wheelchair services. This market engagement aims to progress the commissioning project, which was previously paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The engagement event is focused on gathering feedback from potential providers before formalising the tender, which will conclude on 1st July 2021. The services required are classified under health and social work services, with the project based in the East of England. The contract period is set to commence on 1st October 2022 and extend until 30th September 2025, with a total estimated value of £100,000.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the health sector, particularly those specialising in wheelchair services, medical equipment, and related support services. Providers that demonstrate capacity for innovative service improvement and responsive stock management, along with an ability to address patient choice and data management, would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSE) are encouraged to participate in this engagement process, which seeks to enhance service delivery for both children's and adults' wheelchairs.
