Notice Description

Please note that this is not yet a call for competition. The Council has a legal obligation to provide post-mortem (PM) and mortuary facilities under The Coroners and Justice Act (2009) working closely with the Lincolnshire HM Coroner's Service. Of the deaths reported to the Coroner, approx. 1300 each year require a post mortem, equating to 40% of reportable deaths. The requirement will be to provide post mortems and associated mortuary facilities for: * 1,300 - 2,000 PMs per year (requires flexibility to increase numbers in the event that there are adjustments to the Lincolnshire Coronial Areas) * Histology and Toxicology where required * Provision of PM reports * Swift turn around times to ensure that the deceased are returned to Lincolnshire in a timely fashion. The Council is seeking views on the feasibility and current capacity and ability to provide a number of services relating to post mortems and mortuary facilities. Suppliers are asked to express their interest in participating in the opportunity. The exact method of engagement is yet to be determined. The Council requires a fully inclusive mortuary services and post mortem facilities, including invasive and non-invasive post mortems and to provide all services required by the Coroner to investigate a death from receipt of the deceased from Coroner's contracted Funeral Director, body storage, preparation of a deceased for and provision of a CT post mortem and/or an invasive post mortem, processing of required histology and/or toxicology and reporting of findings to the Coroner. The Council is seeking views from interested suppliers regarding the feasibility and current capacity and ability to provide a number of services relating of post mortem and mortuary services. Suppliers are asked to express their interest in participating in the opportunity. The exact method of engagement is yet to be determined Information gained throughout this supplier engagement period will be used for information purposes only in order to assist the Council in developing it's specification of needs. Suppliers will not be held to any indicative costings nor excluded from any future procurement exercise on the basis of any information they provide at this stage.
