Notice Title
PRJ-892 Integrated Counselling services (provision of improving access to psychological therapies - IAPT).
Notice Description
Mind in Barnet is an integrated primary/ community based service which delivers counselling to Barnet residents to support their wellbeing and recovery from mental ill health. The service offers short term and longer term psychodynamic counselling for Barnet residents aged 18 or over registered with a Barnet CCG listed GP and counsellors within the service are accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). It is intended that in 2019 with the award of this contract the service will begin to deliver IAPT compliant therapies as part of the current offer. The service is expected to provide counselling and other relevant psychological interventions as deemed appropriate that are IAPT compliant therapies. This service supports individual wellbeing and recovery, and is preventative to the extent that it provides a social element of treatment to supplement any existing formal mental health interventions, whilst also reducing any potential escalation of needs that could result in higher levels of demand for acute and intensive health and social care interventions. By focusing on prevention and wellbeing, the service is expected to improve service user outcomes and experience of services, prevent deterioration in people's mental health, and reduce the need for formal and intensive health and social care interventions by delivering "the right service at the right time". The service should result in reduced social isolation, sustained recovery, goal attainment, and ultimately empowerment of individuals to self-manage their mental health better. The service will be an integral part of BCCG ensuring that we have an accessible and diverse improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) offer for residents complementing the existing offer we have in place via the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust IAPT service and Barnet Refugee Service IAPT offer. The service will work closely with the Barnet Wellbeing Hub, which is delivered by a collaboration of local voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations including CommUNITY Barnet, the Chinese Mental Health Association (CMHA), Inclusion Barnet, the Jewish Volunteering Network (JVN) and Mind in Barnet, other mental health services, the wider VCS and also Adult Social Care. The annual contract value is PS74,763 for 2 years from 1st Oct 2019 to 30th September 2021. The new contract will be for two years with the option to extend by a further year to 30th September 2022 subject to satisfactory performance. Additional information: The Provider is expected to adopt a flexible approach to delivery in order to deliver a service that best meets service user needs. For example, the service provider may offer extended opening hours and utilise technology to communicate and engage with service users. The provider may also undertake outreach activities to raise awareness of the service offer, and offer workshops to develop the skills of the patient cohort further. The provider is expected to work collaboratively with local voluntary and community sector organisations, primary and secondary health care and adult social services. The provider should engage in other communications and engagement activities to raise awareness of the service within other local organisations. The provider must evidence that their staff have the requisite levels of training to deliver the service, and must provide induction and a rolling programme of training to its staff. The provider may utilise volunteers and peer-support networks to deliver services with the proviso that they are adequately supervised at all times, and have oversight of a fully trained and qualified member of staff. The provider must provide the requested contract and performance monitoring information at the frequency and in the format agreed with Commissioners ensuring compliance to IAPT standards.
