Notice Title

Kresen Kernow Cafe

Notice Description

The Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a tenant to run the cafe at Kresen Kernow, Redruth, www.kresenkernow.org . The operation was previously run by the Council's Gingko Cafe Team, who relocated to the Council's New County Hall and Camborne offices. The Council is interested in generating applications from as wide a range of bidders as possible. The opportunity is offered by way of a concession and lease, and the winning bidders will need to be fully operational on site by: 10 January 2023. Funded by an PS11.7m grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and by Cornwall Council, Kresen Kernow is a state-of-the-art archive centre on the former Brewery site in Redruth. With its carefully restored facade, exhibition gallery, digitisation and preservation suites and 14 miles of shelving, it is an award-winning home for 1.5 million records covering 850 years of Cornwall's history - from medieval manuscripts to books, newspapers, glass plate negatives, maps, diaries, letters and much more. Approximately 30 staff and volunteers are based there, and before the pandemic closed the building in March 2020, over 10,000 people visited in its first six months of opening to view the collections and exhibitions and take part in activities.
