Summary of the contracting process

Nottingham City Council is currently seeking experienced and qualified contractors to provide consultancy services related to District Heating requirements, under the tender titled "District Heating Consultancy (CPU 2010)". The authority aims to conduct a feasibility study for connecting the Island Site to the existing District Heat Network in Nottingham, located in the East Midlands region of the United Kingdom. The open procurement process is active, with the tender period concluding on the 16th of May 2018. The contract is expected to commence on the 4th of June 2018 and will last until the 3rd of December 2018, with a budget of £80,000 for the services outlined.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses focused on architectural, construction, engineering, and consultancy services, particularly those with expertise in renewable energy solutions. Companies that specialise in research and development services related to heating and energy efficiency would be well-positioned to compete. The overall goal of increasing renewable heating demand aligns with the growing market for low-carbon solutions, making it an attractive venture for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) eager to contribute to Nottingham's ambitious sustainability targets.

Notice Title

District Heating Consultancy (CPU 2010)

Notice Description

Nottingham City Council is seeking tenders from sufficiently experienced and qualified contractors to provide consultancy in regard to District Heating requirements. The authority intends to conduct a Feasibility Study into the implementation of a District Heat Network at the Island Site. Nottingham as a city is starting the low carbon transition from a leading position. 40 years ago Nottingham developed an affordable heating solution by recovering energy from municipal waste collected across the city and surrounding areas. Today this system delivers 126GWh of renewable heating and cooling annually which is distributed through approximately 90km of pipework to our customers across the city. To meet our 2020 target we therefore need to increase renewable heating and cooling demand by 63% annually or 79GWh. Although the 12% heat demand from renewables is challenging, Nottingham is already well over half way to achieving this.
