Notice Title
Marina Village Barrow, Design Guide and Master Planning
Notice Description
Barrow Borough Council are seeking to appoint qualified consultants to undertake a Masterplan and Design Guide for a 26-hectare brownfield site located on the waterfront at Barrow-in-Furness. This commission will review and update the Marina Village 2020 Masterplan and complete a Design Guide. The commission will inform the project to drive forward the development and give the private sector confidence in the schemes deliverability. This will include information required to support Barrow Borough Council's business case application required for infrastructure gap funding and maximize regeneration potential aligning this site to the wider town centre regeneration programme and Levelling Up. The commission is required to deliver innovative and bespoke Masterplanning and Design Guide to inform investors and developers of the aspiration and requirement to deliver good quality design across the Marina Village. The Guide will consider Homes England's Building for a Healthy Life and Building for Healthy Streets Guidance. Recognised principles of good design should be sought to create a high quality built environment for all forms of development across the site. Although visual appearance and the architecture of individual buildings are important factors, good design should improve connections between people and places, integrate sustainability and clean growth within the built environment, and show consideration to the natural environment while resolving coastal and climate constraints on the site.
