Summary of the contracting process

Seaford Town Council is initiating a procurement process under the planning stage titled "Invitation to Submit Proposals Hope Gap Steps" within the engineering and construction works industry category. This initiative pertains to coastal-defence works located in the South East of the United Kingdom. The process invites proposals for the repair or replacement of the Hope Gap steps, focusing on long-term durability and resilience. Key milestones include the engagement end date on 16th February 2026, with submission deadlines for proposals also set for 16th February 2026, by 5:00pm. Potential suppliers are encouraged to attend site visits scheduled on the 3rd, 4th, and 11th of February to gain a better understanding of the project requirements and site constraints.

This procurement presents opportunities for businesses specializing in engineering, construction, and coastal-defence solutions. Companies experienced in managing eco-sensitive areas, regulatory compliance for structural works, and adaptation to coastal conditions will find this project particularly suitable. Given Seaford Town Council's emphasis on achieving best value, businesses capable of offering innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions stand to benefit. While this process focuses on option appraisals at present, successful contractors may position themselves advantageously for future construction procurement, subject to separate approvals under the Procurement Act 2023.
