Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is currently inviting tenders for the "Mature UK Theatre Ticket Sales Report" project, which aims to address challenges in theatre ticketing data following the COVID-19 pandemic. The procurement falls under research and experimental development services, with a total contract value of £50,000 and a minimum bid value of £25,000. The tender period ends on 19th November 2021, while the contract is set to commence on 29th November 2021 and will continue until 28th February 2022. This is an open procedure for businesses located in the UK and beyond, including British Overseas Territories and the Channel Islands.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses in the research and data analysis sectors, particularly those with experience in the arts and cultural industries. Organisations that specialise in ticketing systems, performance analytics, or the provision of insights into consumer behaviour within the arts are especially well-suited to compete. As the theatre sector recovers, understanding and analysing ticket sales data is crucial, creating further avenues for those capable of providing innovative solutions to enhance theatre performance and audience engagement.

Notice Title

GB-London: Mature UK Theatre Ticket Sales Report

Notice Description

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) exists to help make Britain the world's most creative and exciting place to live, visit and do business. The Arts sector is an important part of the UK's economy, contributing PS7.9bn to GVA, and 250,000 jobs in 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic meant that theatres and other performance venues had to close for much of 2020 and the first half of 2021, with many performances rescheduled for future dates. As the theatre sector reopens, it is important to understand how the sector is performing, relative to pre-Covid-19 levels. However, standard ticketing data does not always provide an accurate representation of the level of activity in the sector, as it is difficult to account for performances which were scheduled to take place that have since been cancelled or postponed. This project aims to address these current issues in ticketing data by identifying and analysing data only for performances which are known to have taken place.
