T Level Professional Development
Notice Description
The Department is running a market engagement event to explore commercial options for a national delivery partner to design and deliver T Level Professional Development (TLPD). TLPD is a continuous professional development (CPD) offer to staff in post-16 T Level delivery organisations. TLPD is currently managed by one national supplier who sub-contracts certain specialist elements. The event takes place on 21 February in central London and aims to gauge interest and gather feedback to assist our procurement approach. If you wish to attend the event please email: FE.profession@education.gov.uk including the name of your organisation, names of maximum two proposed attendees by Tuesday 12 February. Title the email 'TLPD Market Engagement Event'. Acknowledgment and further information will be emailed to you shortly after the 12th. Our ambition for a world-leading standard of technical education relies on excellent teachers. As T Levels are a new, higher quality programme, involving substantially more teaching hours, we know that many teachers could benefit from additional support to prepare for this change. To ensure that T Levels deliver great outcomes for learners, we are committed to ensuring that providers have the support they need, through TLPD, to deliver them well. Outline Requirement The aim of TLPD is to ensure providers deliver high quality teaching in order for students to achieve successful T Level outcomes. TLPD seeks to do this by ensuring that: * those teaching a T Level have the knowledge and skills they need in order to teach that programme effectively; * leaders in a provider with a role in delivering T Levels have the knowledge and skills they need to lead and manage the change process; * members of staff with a role in delivering T Levels have the knowledge they need to play their part in successful T Level introduction. TLPD entails design and delivery of online and face-to-face training that: * develops the understanding of what a T Level is and prepares providers to deliver this significant change programme; * raises standards of pedagogy, both generally and within teacher's subject-specific areas; * ensures currency and industry-relevance of teachers' subject knowledge; * strengthens the teaching of English, mathematics and digital delivered within subject specialisms; * facilitates and supports the development of effective collaboration between T Level providers. Training being developed should take into account: * latest, high-quality evidence on pedagogical knowledge and skills; * what makes effective professional development for teachers and other staff in education settings; * T Level policy context and design of T Level programmes. All training should be developed using a detailed understanding of the professional development needs of T Level provider staff, identified through a bespoke training needs analysis. Additional information: The Department is considering the future commercial and contractual model for TLPD. Information gathered from this event may be used to support future commercial activity. This PIN does not constitute a commitment by the Department to begin any procurement activity or award a contract in relation to the PIN's subject matter. Attendees are responsible for their own costs of attending the event.
