Summary of the contracting process

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is initiating a tender process for the "School Tills (Market Engagement)" project, which aims to replace the existing till systems in school dining areas before August 2021. This procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a key engagement end date set for 11th May 2018. The project is situated in the West Midlands region of the United Kingdom and falls under the broader category of communication, telecommunication, and related equipment. Interested suppliers are encouraged to register on the CSW-JETS electronic tendering system to participate in the engagement process, which includes one-on-one meetings scheduled for April or May 2018.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses in the technology and catering service sectors, particularly those specialising in communication systems, IT consulting, and school catering solutions. Companies that can provide innovative till systems or cashless catering solutions will be well-positioned to compete, especially those who can demonstrate their capabilities through comprehensive presentations during the engagement meetings. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly welcome to participate, as this project aims to foster local supplier involvement.

School Tills (Market Engagement)

Notice Description

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council seeks early engagement with a view to replacing the tills in its school dining areas before August 2021. The tills are managed by Solihull Catering Services. Solihull Catering Services is part of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, and provides catering services to approximately 109 Schools within Solihull, Coventry and Worcestershire. The breakdown of Schools is as follows: 1. Solihull approximately 64 infant and primary, 9 secondary 2. Coventry - 24 infant and Primary 3. Worcestershire - 1 Primary. The till contract is currently on an extension period and will be extended further until a new contract is in place. As part of this consultation we want to engage with providers to understand the possibilities on the type of till solution which might be best placed to deliver a quality schools catering service. The previous roll out of a till system took approximately 2 years to plan and implement including the introduction of a cashless catering system, hence the need now for an early market engagement. Early engagement will involve meeting key members of the catering department and the project team in a 1 to 1 supplier meeting at Sans Souci Training Centre in Solihull in April or May 2018. Meetings should be no longer than 1.5 hours and a maximum of 3 representatives from each organisation or partnership would be invited to attend. Meetings will be scheduled on a 1st come, 1st served basis and you should indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd preference for the date and time on the Expression of Interest sheet. The consultation will require a presentation by interested parties with a demonstration of a possible solution for SMBC. All information provided will be treated with confidentiality. Additional information: In order for you to access the market engagement information pack and express interest in participating in this process you will need to login/ register to our electronic tendering system CSW-JETS (Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire's joint E- tendering System). Similarly, in order for you to tender for any subsequent tender you will need to be registered on CSW-JETS. When complete, you will be able to express interest in any of the Councils'/Authorities' opportunities when they are made available. In addition, we will be able to access your details whenever we have a requirement, and you may then be invited to tender or quote for work.
