Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Young Carers Personal Budgets in North West London" project is led by NHS Shared Business Services, focusing on providing essential health services. This initiative is located in London and is classified under the CPV code 85100000, emphasising health services. The contract was awarded on 1st October 2021, with its term spanning until 31st March 2023. This was initiated as a single tender action, aimed at implementing a flexible system for managing funding to support young carers and their families, addressing the unique needs of this group in service delivery.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on healthcare and community support services, particularly those that are small or voluntary and community sector enterprises. Companies equipped to provide flexible and collaborative health services in partnership with primary care and hospitals would be well-suited to compete. The focus on improving healthcare access and outcomes for young carers indicates that organisations with expertise in community engagement, transport, and activity coordination could find a valuable opportunity for growth through this contract.

Notice Title

Young Carers Personal Budgets in North West London

Notice Description

The aim of the project is to implement and deliver a system for administering small amounts of funding to a range of organisations that provide a specific service to young carers. This will be achieved by working with young carers and their families to identify the activities that are most likely to be successful in maintaining and achieving positive health outcomes. The project will help to identify the activities that the young carers are particularly interested in and coordinate the activities with providers. The nature of young carers requires a more flexible approach to the provision of Personal Budget projects for Adult Carers, this is due almost exclusively to the need for transport and supervision while engaged in those activities. This is generally not required for other carer groups, unless they belong to vulnerable groups such as Learning Disability etc. Additional information: A new contract is putting in place for a period of 18 months to afford the newly forming NHS North West London CCG time to agree the approach to commission this service at NWL ICS level in line with national and ICS guidance to ensure smoother, less complicated, non-duplicated service delivery.
