Notice Title
Market Intelligence - Network Bus Solution
Notice Description
Milton Keynes Council is preparing to retender all of its existing contracted bus services. The current contracts are due end in October 2020, it is likely these will be extended into early 2021 due to the current situation. A dynamic purchasing system is being put in place for the tender process and both PSV and Demand responsive/shared taxi options are included in that, however we wanted to take this opportunity to see if there is a viable, network wide alternative to a route by route tender replacement. We therefore invite interest from operators holding PSV, taxi or private hire licenses that could put forward a network wide solution to compliment a commercial bus network. Key considerations: Solutions can use a mixture of vehicle types but will need to meet accessibility requirements as an overall proposal. Would need to consider how to support MKC's goals of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Operations cannot compete with commercially run bus services. Many of the services in Milton Keynes are wholly or partially supported so this is a significant opportunity to change the way public transport is delivered in the area and we are open to innovative proposals. This is an open call for interest which is expected to lead to further dialogue. To express an interest please email mark.culley@milton-keynes.gov.uk
