Summary of the contracting process

Cheshire Constabulary, acting on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, is seeking tenders for the "Provision of Veterinary Services" for its Police Dog Units, classified under veterinary services in the service industry. The contract, which is currently in the Tender stage, is set to commence on 1st June 2019 and will run for two years, with the option to extend for an additional two years. The tender submission deadline is 3rd May 2019. The service will cover the North West region of the United Kingdom, and interested veterinary practices must meet specific criteria including Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) accreditation and proximity to Cheshire and North Wales.

This tender presents significant opportunities for veterinary practices that specialise in animal care, particularly those experienced with police or working dogs. Businesses that can provide 24/7 services, emergency surgeries, and supply medications would be especially well-suited to participate. Given the nature of the services required, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a focus on veterinary care may find this contract advantageous for growth and engagement in public sector contracts.
